Cool! But I think it uses the same idea from the others, high speed rotation.

It looks like it does, but it's interesting that it's not restricted to making round objects like the other 3d devices in this thread.

First off, this was impressive and thank you for sharing it.

but, the design looks a bit clunky...when it moves, it looks like it's doing it in part by dragging it's feet. I'm not sure if this is a flaw in the tachikoma design or the robotics used to make it move. anyone have any idea?

That is epic. As a previous Geek stated, it does seem to only have power in the front legs, but having all four legs powered would make it a bit bulkier.

At first the idea of an animal developing intelligence but unable to use it was cool but not feasible ant first... but them I remembered about the honeyguide bird!

But for this to work both of them should have good communication skills, the "brain" animal need feedback from the "body" animal. Of course the "body" language would be very limited in comparison to the "brain" and it would take a long time for something like this evolve.

The question is: extra long term evolution could lead to some awesome results or stabilization and stagnation?

wow. honeyguides are like nature's griefers.

To answer your question to some extent, though, look at humans and our helper animals. The dog is a shining example. As our needs diversified, so too did the canine species.

Yeah, but humans are not the only way intelligence evolved. Some think that we got bigger brains due to the use of hands (or fire, or meat...). Dolphins need a big brain for their sonar, birds for fly. All of them have complex communication system with is something in common to all intteligent animal but the other characteristics are very different.

The idea of this Dresden Codak is that given enought time mutualism relations could reach amazing levels.
Indeed in real world some mutualism relations ARE amazing, like a coral reef, an animal who is also an ecosystem or in lichens where two different creatures reproduce together. The comic just takes this aproach to bigger animals.

I have oftentimes wondered about the possible connection between intelligence, geeks and sexual deviantism. The fact that this has shown up here reaffirms the need to explore this connection.
